Community Outreach

The Brattleboro Police Department teamed up with the New England Youth Theatre and the Brattleboro Community Justice Center in order to present Officer Krupke in The Quality of Mercy. Brattleboro Police Officers sang and dance. This was one skit of many which focused on sharing awareness of Restorative Justice with the wider
community. It was directed by Rebecca Waxman.

After a brief investigation, it was determined that the operator of the vehicle, Justin Valaske was impaired. He was placed under arrest for DUI and cited to appear in Windham County District Court on 12/07/10.

Rogers. After a brief investigation, it was determined that Rogers was impaired. He was placed under arrest for DUI and cited to appear in Windham District Court on 12/07/10.

After an investigation into that matter as well as an incident that had occurred in Brattleboro on 11/15, David Danforth was charged with Domestic Assault. Danforth was already in custody of the Dover PD on a related charge, and therefore was cited to appear in Windham District Court on 11/18/10 at 12:30pm.

Fowler was located, and was subsequently taken into custody without incident. Fowler was lodged at the Brattleboro Police Department in lieu of $10,000 bail.

INCIDENT: Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Larceny from a Person, Interfering with Emergency Services

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

The Brattleboro Police Department has made two arrests in connection with a series of armed robberies that occurred in Brattleboro over the past several days. Joseph Scalzo (age 28) has been arrested and is facing multiple charges to include Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Larceny from a Person, and Interfering with Emergency Services. Also arrested was Brenna Reynolds (age 37) who is facing charges of Aiding During the Commission of a Felony.

Scalzo is currently being held without bail at the BPD pending his arraignment on Monday, 11/15/10, at the Windham County Superior Court, Criminal Division.

Reynolds was released on conditions and will also appear in Windham Superior Court on Monday.

As this investigation is still on going, no additional information can be released at this time.

On 11/12/10 Brattleboro Police responded to a report of a collision on West River Road. When police arrived they located a collision scene where a vehicle had driven off of the west side of the road.

Shirley J. Chancey had been driving her 2008 Subaru Outback toward Newfane. The vehicle left the west side of the road and struck a guardrail. The guardrail was torn from the ground and pushed into the street. The vehicle rolled over and came to rest in a ditch.

Chancey was arrested for DUI. She was issued a citation and released.

The Brattleboro Fire Department and Rescue, Inc assisted at the collision scene.
