Possession of cocaine & marijuana; false information to police

Latrease Shufford (22) of NY – Fugitive from justice
Gerald Sargent (25) of VT – Operation after suspension; possession of cocaine
Circumstances of Event: On 02/10/2012 at approximately 4:10 AM Brattleboro Police conducted a motor vehicle stop due to the plates not being assigned to the vehicle that they were attached to. Further investigation showed that the operator of the vehicle, Gerald Sargent, had a criminally suspended license. While arresting Sargent, police recovered suspected crack cocaine from him.
The passenger in the vehicle, initially identified as Jerry Jones, was unable to provide police with acceptable identification on scene and he returned to his apartment with police to retrieve identification documents. Upon arrival there, police found that the female at the residence, Latrease Shufford, was wanted on an extraditable warrant out of NY. Further investigation at the residence led police to seize it for a search warrant. Upon execution of the search warrant, police recovered approximately 43 grams of crack cocaine and approximately 1.6 grams of marijuana.
With assistance from authorities in NY, Jones was eventually identified as Demetrius Pelzer.
